08 Sep Report on September Auction & Announcing The Date of October LIVE Auction
Our September Online auction was filled with stellar wines from all over the wine producing globe. Continuing our Italian bent since August, the highest successful bid was the 1998 Masseto Tenuta dell’Ornellaia, which sold for $1057.50. This was followed by the legendary 1996 Chateau d’Yquem in magnum at $940, another great buy!
The ‘West Island’ (aka Australia) was well represented with an array of wonderful wines. However, it was once again Penfolds that proved to be the most popular brand and it attracted the most bidders across the auction, with 2006 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 reaching $775.50 and its 2002 vintage selling for $752.
From home, Bordeaux blends led the show with 1998 Te Mata Coleraine achieving $293.74, followed by 2010 Destiny Bay Mystae at $258.50 and Stonyridge Larose having a 100% sell-through rate once again.
Bordeaux itself went very well with the 1989 Les Forts de la Tour selling for $458.25, followed by 2016 & 2010 Chateau Pontet-Canet at $423 and $411.25 respectively.
We have had an excellent run of vintage ports and cognacs lately and September was no different. Johnnie Walker Blue Label Special “The Cask Edition” was snapped up at $376, while Martell Cordon Bleu Extra Cognac reached $258.50, Remy Martin XO Cognac sold for $211.50 and 1997 Taylors Vintage achieved $117.50.
Our next auction will be a LIVE/online sale on Tuesday 6 October at Caro’s Wine on 14 Mackelvie Street, Grey Lynn. Please note the auction will start at 6.00pm. As usual, the auction will be streamed live on auctions.wineauctionroom.com. We have got some great wines lined up for this auction and, as always, will have something special to taste that evening too.
