13 Oct Report on October Auction & Announcing The Date of November Online Auction

With thanks to our global community of bidders and vendors, our October Live/online auction proved to be another great sale at The Wine Auction Room.  October is proving to be an auspicious month for securing rare treasures.  After more than 80 years undisturbed at the bottom of the Baltic Sea, Lot 117, 1907 Heidsieck & Co Monopole Goût Americain Champagne was recovered from the wreck of the Jönköping in 1997. With top billing in our October auction, bottle #1392 was one of the twenty-four bottles originally sold by Christie’s (London) in October 1998; re-homed to a New Zealand bidder in October 2020.  The new owner and vendor are both thrilled with the sale and we are confident this won’t be the last time we hear of our shipwrecked treasure.

Also on offer this month was the 1982 Chateau Latour and Remy Martin Louis XIII; each lot selling for $2350.

We had a bevy of Penfolds and other premium Australian brands available. 1988 Penfolds Grange achieved $705, and 1992 Henschke Hill Of Grace Shiraz 1500ml scored $1527.50.

Also in big formats, 2000 Tenuta San Guido Sassicaia 1500ml sold for $1057.50, and 2006 Yalumba Octavius 3000ml snapped at $987, followed by 2000 Chateau Lynch-Bages 1500ml at $963.50. These big formats are excellent choices for group imbibing. Our range of elegant Burgundies proved to be a crowd-pleaser and offered exceptional value – discerning buyers are doing well with these French beauties.
