Report on November LIVE Auction and Announcing The Date of December Online Auction

Our November Live & Buy Now auction has proven to be another success!

We were privileged to have the greater part of the cellar of an industry champion, with many highlights but truly spectacular when it came to the selections from Alsace and Sauternes. These wines have great ageing potential and receive excellent reviews despite being far less well known. Our astute bidders secured 78% of these fine wines, in which the half bottle 1999 Chateau d’Yquem achieved $235, an excellent buy.

For the first time ever, the highest hammer win in our auction was not a bottle of rare wine but something bigger — the Espace 1900 Walk in Cellar with over 2000 bottle capacity achieved $4700. It’s hard not to stock up more wines after this great purchase.

As ever, our Bordeaux collection was a hit. We were thrilled to offer 1985 Petrus which achieved $2467.50 on the night of the auction. Chateau Pichon Longueville Baron and Chateau Haut Brion were the two most popular lots, attracting over 30 bidders, followed by 2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild which sold for $893.

Our recent success with Grange continues with this auction, 1986 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 achieved $775.50 with vintage 1995 sold for $470 ($2820 in total). The rest selection from Australia all attracted great interest and outstanding value.

Te Mata Coleraine and Stonyridge Larose are the two ever sought-after usual suspects, with 100% sell through rate.

Champagnes are always popular bids, especially when they are in bigger formats. NV Louis Roederer Jeroboam achieved $293.75 and 2002 Dom Perignon sold for $364.25.

Rhone and Burgundy also scored great results. A Robert Parker 100 Paul Jaboulet La Chapelle 1990 achieved $716.75 and 1990 Louis Jadot Clos Vougeot was snapped up for $293.75.

A heartfelt thank you to all our consignors and bidders for helping to create a great event. We look forward to seeing you all again for our next online auction commencing Wednesday 4th December at midday and running through to 7pm Sunday 8th. We are looking forward to this auction as we have a huge amount of Penfolds OWC’s as one consignor liquidates her cellar. We will also have a great amount of wines from a group of Auckland gentlemen who have purchased their wines together and have decided to sell a small percentage of their fine and iconic wines.

Note:  All prices are per bottle and includes the Buyer’s Premium (excludes GST)
