Report on May Auction & Announcing the Date of June LIVE Auction

Every year in May we have a big focus on New Zealand wines. Our lovely wine community made the 2022 May Online auction another proud Kiwi event.

We had a great collection of Hawkes Bay reds leading the show, the 6-bottle lot of 2013 Te Mata Estate Coleraine OWC took the highest win of $1198.50; also in 6-pack format the 2013 and 2014 Craggy Range Le Sol reached $916.50. 2002 Church Road Tom reached $199.75, 2010 Trinity Hill Homage achieved $141 and 2008 Bilancia La Collina Syrah sold for $117.50. Another NZ top red, the 6-bottle lot of 2010 Stonyridge Vineyard Larose got snapped at $1128.

The rise of Kiwi Pinot Noir has been lauded both domestically and internationally and it is easy to see why. 2013 Prophet’s Rock Retrospect Pinot Noir achieved $188, followed by 2006 Amisfield RKV Pinot Noir at $176.25. The always impressive Valli scored $152.75 with its 2013 vintage, followed by 2009 Pegasus Bay Prima Donna Pinot Noir at $129.25, 2011 Pyramid Valley Vineyards Earth Smoke got snapped at $117.50 and 2008 Misha’s Vineyard Verismo Pinot Noir sold for $70.50.

From the mother region of Pinot Noir, 1993 Domaine Francois Lamarche La Grande Rue Grand Cru sold for $940, and 2017 Domaine de la Vougeraie Vosne Romanee Aux Champs Perdrix magnum achieved $399.50, which is closely followed by 2008 Alex Gambal Chambertin Grand Cru at $376. 2014 Domaine Bertagna Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru sold for $305.50, from the same vintage, 2014 Domaine Leroy Bourgogne Rouge achieved $211.50

Over the ditch, 1977 Henschke Hill of Grace took the highest win from the region at $799, 1997 Penfolds Bin 707 reached $317.25 and 2010 Henschke ‘Cyril Henschke’ sold for $188. We surely had wines in all styles, for all pockets and palates.

Perfect for the upcoming winter dishes or your chocolatey desserts, 1977 Taylor’s Vintage sold for $246.75 followed by 1977 Dow’s Vintage at $211.50 and 1977 Croft Vintage at $188.
