28 Aug Report on Last Single Vendor Auction & Announcing Late Winter Online Auction
Our single vendor auction “Tale of Two Collectors” concluded on Sunday August 13 was a wonderful story of intergenerational wine collecting that received great interests from our bidders.
Australia was the star region once again. 1988 Henschke Hill of Grace took the highest hammer price at $940, followed by 1997 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 at $705. Both 1986 and 1996 Penfolds Bin 707 sold for $293.75.
Also worthy of noting are 1994 Chateau Lynch Bages 5eme Cru Classe sold for $317.25, 1990 Chateau Kirwan 3eme Cru Classe sold for $188, 2003 Chateau Giscours 3eme Cru Classe followed at $176.25 and 1980 Chateau La Lagune 3eme Cru Classe sold for $164.50.
Multi-bottle lots of Kiwi Bordeaux blends did quite well in this auction with (4 bottle lot)1996 Te Mata Estate Coleraine leading at $799 and (3 bottle lot)1998 Te Mata Estate Coleraine followed at $740.25. (3 bottle lot)1991 St Nesbit sold for $265.
Within our Italian selection, both 1980 & 1993 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello achieved $246.75, closely followed by 1990 Gaja Pieve Santa Restituta Rennina Brunello di Montalcino and 1990 Mastrojanni Brunello di Montalcino at $235. Both1990 Tenuta Caparzo Brunello di Montalcino Riserva and 1990 Fuligni Riserva Brunello di Montalcino,scored $199.75.
On a sweeter note, 1981 Chateau d’Yquem sold for $587.5, 1988 Chateau Climens followed at $270.25. Both 1990 Chateau Lamothe magnum and (2 bottle lot)1992 De Bortoli Noble One Semillon sold for $164.50.
