11 Jun Report on June Auction and Announcing The Date of July Auction
It was with immense pride and gratitude that we welcomed our bidders back into the physical saleroom for our June Live auction. We not only witnessed some heated competition, but also fun wine chats filled with laughter over “like-knows-like” moments. Overall, we had a great deal of very happy vendors and buyers, with 97% of our lots selling, which makes for a very chuffed Wine Auction Room (especially as this is the second Live auction in a row with a 97% sell-through.)
As the single vendor specialists for Fine Wine auctions, we were fortunate to represent the Cellar of a Taranaki Gentleman, profiled in lots 1 to 211. The mixed vendor part of this auction (Lots 212 to 312) was equally impressive. Both parts featured predominantly New Zealand wines. All the usual suspects were all there with 1998 Te Mata Coleraine sold for $305.50, followed by 2014/2017 Felton Road Block 5 Pinot Noir and 2018 Stonyridge Larose snatched at $211.50 each. We continue to get some great prices for aged New Zealand wines as buyers top-up their cellars with ready to drink gems.
We also had an impressive selection from South Australia, with 1992 Henschke Hill Of Grace Shiraz scored $646.25 and the 99-point 2012 Penfolds Grange reached $611.
The superstars kept coming when we got to the French section. Rhone once again led the show with 1990 Chateau Rayas Chateauneuf du Pape reaching $2115, followed by 1998 Chateau Haut Brion Magnum at $1645 and 2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild at $846. To lift one’s spirit, the beautiful bottle of Christian Brothers Tricentennial Brandy in Tiffany & Co Decanter sold for $423. Also perfect for celebrations, NV Armand de Brignac Ace of Spades Gold Brut Magnum sold for $822.50, and the legendary 1996 Chateau d’Yquem snatched at $540.50, both great buys!
Thank you again for both in-room and online bidders who kept the sale lively. Our next auction will be an online auction between the 1st and 5th of July. See you all in 3 weeks!
Thanks again to all our vendors and bidders for an exciting night in The Auction Room.
