18 Feb Report on February Auction & Announcing The Date of March Auction

A big thank you to everyone who participated in last week’s February Rare & Fine Wine LIVE Auction, especially those of you who came in person, it was lovely seeing you all before we had to go back to our bubbles again.

The top two hammer wins of the auction were two iconic Bordeaux blends, 2005 Chateau Mouton Rothschild and 1992 The Antipodean Imperial both sold for $1175, closely followed by 1995 Chateau Lafite Rothschild and 1995 Chateau Latour both reached $1081.

There were many absolute knock-out wines in this auction, including all five First Growths from the Medoc. 2015 Chateau Mouton Rothschild sold for $1057.50, 1995 Chateau Margaux sold for $963.50, and 1985 Chateau Haut Brion sold for $940.

Just in time to welcome the Chinese New Year of Ox, for the first time we had aged Moutai on offer. The whole Moutai collection was 100% sold on the night, with 2010 Kweichow Flying Fairy Shanghai Expo Limited Release scored the highest win of $963.50, followed by 2010 Kweichow Flying Fairy Moutai at $951.75, great buys! We have never had Moutai in any of our previous auctions and bidding was very passionate – we could hardly keep up with the bids.

Other highlights including 1997 Penfolds Bin 707 reached $481.75, 1996 Montana Tom scored $293.75, 1987 Te Mata Coleraine magnum hammered at $446.50, and Kavalan Oloroso Sherry Cask 59.4% sold for $387.75.
