13 Dec Report on December Online Auction and Announcing The Date of January Auction

With our December online auction done and dusted, we had one of our strongest auction results to welcome the festive season. As always, we had over 100 registered bidders.

The highest hammer win of the auction was 2003 Chateau Lafite which sold for $1410, followed by 2010 Penfolds Bin 170 Kalimna Block C ($1175).

Always a crowd pleaser at any time of the year, we had many vintages of Penfolds Grange in this auction, with an average of $528.75 hammer sale across vintages, and a staggering $15933 in total.

From New Zealand, Stonyridge Larose once again scored 100% sell through rate, 2008 Destiny Bay Magna Praemia achieved $376, and Kumeu River Chardonnay attracted most bidders.

Both Bordeaux and Burgundy continued to be the prime focus of our bidders, 1992 Chateau Lynch Bages sold for $199.75 ($399.5) and 2005 Fourrier Vieilles Vignes Gevrey Chambertin achieved $188 ($564 in total).

The rest of France all attracted great interest and outstanding value. Not surprisingly, Rhone had the best sell through rate with 1990 Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape sold for $376. The success of Sauternes carried on from November to December, with 1999 Chateau d’Yquem 375ml snapped for $246.75, a great buy. We still have more of this wonderful wine that is absolutely in it’s prime coming in future auctions.

Our last auction of the helped us to create a record-breaking year, so did everyone of you — our vendors and bidders. Thank you all for your great support in the past year, because it’s you who shapes our business.
