Report on December Auction & Announcing The Date of January Auction

For those of you who participated in last week’s December Rare & Fine Wine Auction, you would know what a fun and successful night it was. We had a broad range of exceptional wines; perfect for festive gatherings or further cellaring, including a collection of 76 lots from a Passionate Enthusiast’s temperature-controlled cellar.

The top 2 hammer wins of the auction were two Lafite — the 1982 Chateau Lafite Rothschild sold for $3818.75, followed by 2001 Chateau Lafite Rothschild magnum at $2115, great buys!

The assortment of rare Bordeaux was exceptional, 1983 Chateau Lafleur reached $1292.50; 1995 Chateau Lafite Rothschild sold for $963.50; both 1966 Chateau Cheval Blanc and 1966 Chateau Latour got snapped at $940 each while 1966 Chateau Margaux sold for $822.50.

Also, on offer in the last auction of 2020 was an impressive collation of big formats. 1994 The Antipodean Balthazar (12000ml) achieved $1762.50, while 2005 Te Mata Coleraine imperial (6000ml) reached $940, and both 2006 & 2007 Te Mata Coleraine magnum (1500ml) sold for $481.75 each.

Wines stored in their original wooden case (OWC) hold the most market desirability and garner the best prices. In last week’s auction, 2001 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 (6btl) OWC reached for $3525, followed by 2013 Te Mata Coleraine (6btl) OWC sold for $916.50, and 2005 Paul Jaboulet Aine Hermitage La Petite Chapelle (6btl) OWC got snapped at $846. A virgin case of by 2006 Marchesi Antinori Tignanello (6btl) went for $1480.50
