Report on Autumn LIVE Auction & Announcing the Date of Next Online Auction

Fine wine markets kept climbing in early 2022, emerging from the turbulent quarter as a source of stability amid the volatility in the wider financial markets. Here at The Wine Auction Room, we have seen this gain in sales over the past quarter. Thanks to our lively wine community, we achieved yet again over 90% sell-through rate at our Autumn Live Auction which featured some of the world’s greatest wines from well cellared collections.

1988 Bouchard Pere & Fils Comte Liger-Belair La Romanee Grand Cru took the highest hammer win at $2350. Followed by Henschke Hill of Grace, with its 1990 and 1992 vintage magnums selling for $2115 and $2585 respectively. Another ne plus ultra of Australian reds, 1990 Penfolds Grange Bin 95 sold for $893. An interesting comparison also from the “big reds” and early 90; both 1993 Chateau Margaux and 1993 Chateau Haut-Brion achieved $1821.25.

Bordeaux was definitely the region of the month which presented a stronger than ever bidding record. From a legendary vintage, 1982 Chateau Mouton Rothschild sold for $1762.50, closely followed by 2002 Chateau Haut Brion and 2002 Chateau Lafite Rothschild at $1703.75. 1986 Chateau Margaux scored $1527.50 while 1988 Chateau Cheval Blanc magnum sold for $1468.75, 1990 Chateau Palmer achieved $822.50 and 1987 Chateau Mouton Rothschild got snapped at $728.50, great buys!

On a sweeter note, 1976 Chateau d’Yquem achieved $1233.75 while its 1994 vintage sold for $481.75.

Other highlights worth mentioning are, 1995 Domaine Comte Georges de Vogue Musigny Grand Cru reached $1762.50 while 2011 Domaine Armand Rousseau Mazy-Chambertin Grand Cru sold for $1175. The 100 point 2007 Domaine Pegau Cuvee Da Capo Chateauneuf du Pape magnum scored $1527.50; and 1999 Masseto Tenuta dell’Ornellaia sold for $1151.50.
