18 Apr Report on Our April Auction & Announcing The Date of Our May LIVE Auction
The new financial year was met with a great start for our customers – with both vendors and bidders achieving great success with our April Online Auction. We approved to most online bidders to date, and 95% of our active bidders achieved success. It’s fair to say vendors, buyers and the Wine Auction Room team were all tickled pink with the outcome!
New Zealand wines were strongly represented in our April Online auction and were met with good demand. Not surprisingly Pinot Noir from varying vintages across Ata Rangi, Kusuda, and Pegasus Bay were a crowd pleaser but did not overshadow the 2004 Fromm Pinot Noir 1500ml that was also keenly sought. Five lots of Craggy Range Le Sol also found a new place to call home across New Zealand.
From Rhone we noticed Chateau de Beaucastel Chateauneuf du Pape as a firm favourite for buyers in this auction, and then from Burgundy we were not surprised to see Domaine Thierry Violot-Guillemard Pommard Epenots 1er Cru from Cote de Beaune as the wine of choice.
Our Australian range offered the widest range of value – where successful bids for varying wines ranged from $16 per bottle to $250 per bottle.
Over the past year we’ve noticed an increasing interest in Sauternes and this auction continued in that same trend. 2011 Chateau Doisy Daene and 2005 Chateau Suduiraut were firm favourites in April.
All choices from our April auction will set up our buyers for an amazing Easter break with family and friends, and we hope will be an inspiration for participation in our May Live/Online auction scheduled for Wednesday 08 May from 6pm. This will be hosted at the Wine Room in Glengarry Victoria Park Auckland and will be streamed live online.
Our May auction will celebrate and pay tribute to the variety of wine makers in New Zealand and is just in time for Mother’s Day on May 12!
