19 Mar Report on Our First Live Online Auction – A Great Result for Vendors and Bidders

It seemed only fitting that we marked our first year of trading with an inaugural Live Online auction on March 13, 2019. This was a memorable evening for my reasons, and we extend a heartfelt thanks to all our vendors and bidders who contributed to a fun event.  We welcomed many people into the sale room and twice as many online which made for an exciting auction.

The auction that we curated represented value ranging from $16 – $4,000and the bidding reflected there was something of interest for everyone.  The sell through rate on the night of the auction and the subsequent buy now offer saw 80% of Lots sold.  A terrific outcome.

Chateau Latour proved to be of great interest in this auction with two vintages available (1947 and 1961).  These heralded vintages generated a great deal of discussion prior to the auction and were coveted by many. Both bottles were sold on the night and collectively they realised $7,928 (including fees).  

This auction also had a delightful collection of Champagne which didn’t go unnoticed.  Many new owners have reason to celebrate their purchasing success.  Of note was a bottle of Dom Perignon 1992 selling for $540 (including fees). 

New Zealand showcased some great wines that have now found new homes.  Stoneyridge Larose continues to be of great interest with multiple different vintages secured.  Neudorf Moutrere Chardonnay never fails to disappoint and was matched in demand by the Kumeu River Hunting Hill Chardonnay, and Mates Chardonnay. All represented great value and will be a delight to enjoy with friends and family.

And not to be eclipsed, the Australian Lots of Penfolds Grange and Bin 707 across a number of vintages were also in high demand.

As with all firsts, our auction was not without incident and we thank those impacted for your patience.  We look forward to improving your experience and our results for our next Live Online auction.  But first we must curate our April Online Auction which will be open for bids from April 03, 2019.
